Afternoon Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update – 1,049 Confirmed Cases, 9 Deaths; Remote Work Policy, Essential Business Operations Memo Template, Employer Action Plan, Analysis/Synopsis of Governor’s Stay-at-Home Order, Jenner & Block Resources

At the time of this e-mail, the Illinois Dept. of Public Health is reporting 9 deaths, out of 1,049 now-confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 in Illinois including an infant. Confirmed cases have risen by 296 since yesterday and are up from 93 cases a week ago. In total, 8,374 people have been tested for the virus. You can see where these cases are occurring at the State of Illinois COVID-19 website that also contains more information on this outbreak. In addition, Western Illinois University has an put together this Map of COVID-19 Cases in Illinois & Surrounding States to give you a better picture of where Covid-19 cases are at in relation to areas surrounding Illinois.
Remote Work Policy: Attached to this e-mail is a template borrowed from our peers at the Virginia Manufacturers’ Association for businesses for remote work policy, social distancing & exposure management.
Essential Business Operations Template: Attached is a draft memo as an example to have at your facility if questioned about whether your facility is an Essential Business as defined under the Governor’s Stay-At-Home order. Please change as you see fit and review with your legal counsel.
Employer Action Plan Guidance Document: In conjunction with our brethren at the Pennsylvania Chemical Industry Council, attached is a guidance document covering employer action plans regarding the Covid-19 outbreak, covering employee communications, operations risk assessment and mitigation efforts, the media, local leaders and first responders, and federal resource links from the Illinois Dept. of Public Health, CDC, and DHS.
