Re: LAST CHANCE for Golf Hole Sponsorships - August 19 General Meeting & Golf Outing
On August 19, CICI will hold its General Membership Meeting & Annual Golf Outing at Klein Creek Golf Club in Winfield. Due to the easing of COVID-19 restrictions, this will be an in-person meeting. CICI still has some hole sponsorships available but must be in by close of business Wednesday, August 11 to allow time for printing. These sponsorships benefit CHEMPAC, the only political action committee that solely represents the chemical industry.
Even with the prospect of an onerous energy proposal hanging over our heads for the summer, the recently concluded Spring Session was somewhat successful for the industry. We held off all general tax increases and were able to reduce some of Governor Pritzker’s budget plan to eliminate close to a billion dollars in tax incentives. Organized labor’s long-sought initiative to force member facilities into hiring unionized contractors and paying prevailing wage has stalled for now. Numerous attempts to regulate the industry under new and devastating Environmental Justice policies were also halted. We were also able to kill off all attempts at banning our products.
Not only is next year an all-important election year, with redistricting, but every seat in the General Assembly is also up for an election. Many of these contests will determine the make-up of the state legislature for the next decade. There will also be a contest for Governor. Governor Pritzker is presumably going to run again. There will also be mid-term elections under a new presidential administration. In other words, we cannot begin to tell you how important the 2022 elections will be for this industry. And we’re going to need a PAC that is capable of competing with our adversaries and help elect lawmakers who truly understand the importance the state’s chemical industry.
Simply put - CICI needs to step up its game in retaining lawmakers and electing candidates that view our industry as a real benefit to the state’s economy. As such, we need to grow CHEMPAC exponentially. CICI is asking for your support of CHEMPAC by sponsoring a hole at this year’s golf outing.
Please make sure your voice is heard in Springfield! Please consider one of the sponsorship opportunities for CICI’s Annual Golf Outing.
NOTE: Corporate contributions to CHEMPAC are legal and encouraged.
